TIDE POWER
SCHEME IN ENGLAND HARNESSING “THE WASH” A scheme for harnessing the Wash and providing hydro-electric power for the whole of Southern England was discussed recently. The idea is to run out an embankment which would enslose about
35,000 acres and impound the waters. A further basin would take the waters running through the turbines working the dynamos. It is estimated that with the 15-feet fall of tide 105,000 units of electricity can be produced an hour for about one penny per 12 units. Mr. Leonard "Weaver, an engineer, representing the Dynamic Electrical Co., Ltd., estimates that 1,00 Omen could be employed on th ework, which was estimated to cost £4,600,000.
