DISTRESSED MINERS
PRINCE TO SPEND FOUR DAYS ON COALFIELDS (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 11.28 a.m. LONDON, Thursday. The Prince of Wales’s tour of the Welsh coalfields will occupy four days. He hopes to see as much as possible of the distressed areas and of the people’s homes, In order to gain a first-hand knowledge of the real conditions prevailing on the coalfields. According to the “Daily News," the Prince will investigate the distress among the 200,000 unemployed miners and their families. liis Itoyal Highness will visit the homes of the miners, inspect the derelict collieries, and observe the stagnation into which some areas have sunk, before making a further broadcast appeal for funds. The Prince has intimated that he does not want any civic receptions or ceremonies.
