FIRE PUMP FOR TUG
TE AWHINA’S TRIPLE USE FIRE-FLOAT TOO COSTLY The Auckland Harbour Board is calling tenders lor a steam fire-pump and fittings. It is proposed to install the firepump and fittings in the Te Awhiua. the Harbour Board’s tug, which will then be used for towage, salvage and fire extinguishing. Last year the board decided to do away with the present fire float, which had become too costly. Until the alterations have been made tc the Te Awhina the fire float Wilt IkT TEept banked and will be ready for any emergency in a few minutes. She is not available for towage, however. The tenders for the steam fire-pump and fittings close with the Board on May 14.
