WOOL PRICES DOWN SALE AT WANGANUI fine wools alone stable Prf#a Association WANGANUI, To-day. \ full bench of buyers attended the Wanganui wool sale to-day, and farmers and others took a keen interest in the proceedings. Good tine, wools were Arm and so.d an to November prices. Medium wool a, down by one halfpenny to one nennv, and a similar drop was noticed in lower grade w 001. Bellies and pieces were also easier, and here again the drop was from one halfpenny to a penny. Good lambs' wool sold at liid to 21d. bidding from Bradford was quiet. Competition was also lacking from the Continent, although buying was principally Continental. Quite a number of lines were passed in but no doubt a number of owners would elect to make a deal at lower prices rather than hold over.

BEEF PRICES FIRM

WESTFIELD STOCK SALE f WESTFIELD, 2.30 p.m. A yarding of approximately 310 head of steers, and 250 head of cow and heifer beef met with a steady demand at Weatfield today. Prices, held firm at late Fates. The offering of steers was made up mostly of handy-weight and moderately well finished cattle, drawn from most parts of the province. No exceptionally noteworthy choice lines came forward. Bidding was left to the butchers, exporters not operating to any noticeable extent. There was a fairly widespread demand. Top price of the day was secured for a line of very heavy prime, bigrframed steers on account Tv. C. Morgan, Matamata, the two best beasts of a line of 2 3 steers on account this vendor making: £l7 17s 6d. T. Raster, Ponsonby Hoad, was the buyer. One of the best quality lines of heavy weight cattle came from 11. E. Reed. Waerenga, 15 well finished, big-framed bullocks on account this vendor making from £ls 2s to £l7 7s 6d. Sixteen medium to heavy weight steers on account C. G. Robertson, Aka Aka, made from <£l3 17s 6d to £ls. Two trucks of choice prime, but not exceptionally heavy, P.A. steers on account ot a Waikato vendor made from £l3 ”s 6d to £l4 IDs. Twenty light to medium weight steers on account F. A. Price, Papatoetoe. made from £l2 2s 6d to £l4. Choice baby beef P.A. steers on account J. Death made from £ll 7s 6d to £l2 7s fid. A mixed truck of five steers on account R. Ross. Kaiwaka, saw a pen of big-framed steers go at £l6 7s 6d. Thirteen medium to heavy weight steers on account W. W. McLaughlin, Papatoetoe. made from £l3 7s 6d to £ls. The cow offering was a very mediocre one, comprising mostly light to medium weight dairy sorts. The market held steady at late rates. Heavy p -ime steers, generally, made from £ls LOs to £l7 12s 6d; medium, £l3 17s 6c to £ls 2s 6d; light, small and unfinished, from £lO. Heavy prime young cows and heifers made to £l2 J-s 6d: medium. £8 17s 6d to £lO 2s liSht and unfinished, from £5 10s.
