“NO HALF-MEASURES”
VOLUNTEERS DEMAND PROTECTION ON ADELAIDE WATERFRONT Reed. 9.44 a.m. ADELAIDE, To-day. The wharves at Adelaide are quiet. Mounted troopers are guarding them, and nearly all the available volunteers are working, but there are still 600 waterside unionists unemployed. A similar number of comrades are working alongside the volunteers. Several volunteers’ homes were stoned during the week-end, and some stated that if better protection were not given they would “take on the job themselves,” and there would be no half measures. It is significant that the mounted police are now armed with service revolvers.
