HIT BY CAR AT TRAMSTOP
RETIRED SEA-CAPTAIN HURT VISITOR TO AUCKLAND While crossing Manukau Road, near Greenwood’s Corner, about 11.30 last evening Captain White-Parsons, of Christchurch, was knocked down and badly injured by a motor-car. Captain White-Parsons, who was, until last year, a master-mariner in the service of the New Zealand Shipping Company, is staying with rela®tions in Auckland. He was on his way home last evening and got out of the tram at the Greenwood’s Corner stop. He walked briskly round the back of the tram to cross the road and was struck by a car coming in the opposite direction. He was unconscious from the blow, and Dr. C. J. A. Griffen, who was called to the accident, had him sent immediately to hospital. He was reported to-day to be in a very serious condition, and it is possible that an operation may have to be performed.
