MEAT WAGON BURNED

FIRE IN GARAGE BUILDING SLIGHTLY DAMAGED A three-ton meat-wagon was badly damaged by lire at 4.15 p.m. on Saturday in the Auckland Meat Company’s garage, Wakefield Street, City. The flooring of offices above the garage was scorched, but the contents were not damaged. Three large meat-wagons in the garage were also scorched. The building and wagons are insured with the New Zealand Company.

The fire started in the cabin of the wagon, and the brigade was on the scene within a couple of minutes, the fire being extinguished in a few minutes.
