“NOTHING TO SAY”
GAOL FOR WOMAN VAGRANT WAS CADGING DRINKS Although she pleaded not guilty, Agnes Kennedy found nothing else to say in answer to a charge of vagrancy preferred against her at the Police Court this morning. Constable Stephens said that, despite many warnings, Kennedy continued to hang about Freeman’s Bay. She was always cadging drinks and talking to men outside hotels. She would do no work and was in a filthy condition. Kennedy, a domestic, aged 45, refused. to avail herself of the opportunity to make an explanation, and was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. On similar charges she was twice sentenced to three months last year.
