PRINCE EDWARD

“WATERFRONT”

The latest comedy by that clever team, Dorothy Mackaill and Jack Mulhall, entitled “Waterfront,” will be shown at the Prince Edward Theatre this evening. Miss Mackaill plays the role of the daughter of a tug-boat captain who is tired of the sea and wants to settle down on land for the rest of his life. The daughter loves the sea and would spend her life sailing it. She falls In love with an oiler on a trans-Pacific steamship only to find out that he has a hankering for the land. It comes near breaking up their romance, but a way out is found by the high-spirited oiler, capitally played by Mulhall. “Roses of Picardy,” the second feature, is a fine British picture based on the famous war novels of R. TI. Mottram, “The Spanish Farm” triology. Lillian Hall-Davis and John Stuart have the leading roles.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has brought popular and talented Bessie Love back to the screen after her absence of some months on the legitimate and vaudeville stage. She lias been signed by this company to play the leading role in "Broadway Melody,” the original story by Edmund Goulding, which will go into production shortly. Anita Page, one of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s most promising younger players, will also appear in this picture.

The premiere of M-G-M’s first full length picture with dialogue sequences “Alias Jimmy Valentine,” starring William Haines, was held at the Astor Theatre, New York, on November 14th. Cabled advice states that it created a furore. Lionel Barymore, Karl Dane, Tully Marshall and Leila Hyams are in the cast. Jack Conway directed.
