CONTROL OF ONERAHI WHARF
BOARD TO TAKE OVER (From Our Own Correspondent) WHANGAREI, Friday. After protracted negotiations the question of the wharf at Onerahi was settled this morning by the Whangarei Harbour Board deciding to take over the complete working of the wharf on terms agreed and drawn up between the Government representative, the general manager of the railways and the board. The board will assume control of the wharf on Monday next. The agreement provides for the Railway Department, formerly owners of the wharf, to continue shunting work, and to allow the present crane to remain free of hire. The board is to provide any new cranes required, or other additions in anticipation of developments of the port trade.
