STOLE FROM LAUNDRY
LABOURER GETS GAOL Thefts of copper piping and joints from a city laundry company resulted in a substantial term of imprisonment being meted out to William Maurice Crimmings at the Police Court yesterday. Crimmins, a labourer, aged 29, was charged with the theft of a copper boiler valued at 30s; copper joints and valued at £4 from the Auckland Steam Laundry Company; a saddle, a sack of sacks, and bottles valued at 30s from Ah Fook and a second lot of fittings valued at £25 10s from the laundry company.
Mr. Buisson, for Crimmins, entered a plea of guilty on all counts except the charge of stealing a copper boiler which, he said, Crimmins had found on a rubbish dump. The police then withdrew the first charge.
Crimmins was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment on the last charge and one month on each of the others, the sentences being concurrent.
