PROPOSED B CLASS STATIONS Press Association WELLINGTON, Thursday. The scheme for the initiation of lour B grade broadcasting stations in New Zealand, similar to those operating in Australia, was advanced a further stage to-day. After a conference in AVellington, which has just concluded, a deputation of radio dealers waited upon the PostmasterGeneral, the Hon. J. B. Donald, and later the Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department, asking that the necessary permission be granted. If this is forthcoming, station 3ZC. Christchurch intends to proceed with the formation of a company to provide a continuous programme from early morning until midnight. The B class station does not receive any support from the Government or from listeners, being supported entirely by advertisers. “Sponsored” programmes similar to those of all American stations are broadcast. There are several of these stations in Australia.
