MOTORIST INJURED CAR STRUCK BY TRAIN Press Association OAMARU, Thursday. While Mr. T. E. West, of Tirnaru, motor-car. was approaching the i Thames Street level-crossing, he api parently failed to hear the warning 1 bells or to observe the crossing-keep- | er's warning flag, with the result that a train which was coming in from the country struck the car near the back arid threw it across the street. The car-driver was cut about the he*ad by flying glass, but fortunately j escaped more serious injury. It is stated that the engine-driver sounded I his whistle twice before he reached the I crossing. CAR THROWN TEN YARDS ACCIDENT AT CROSSING Press Association BLENHEIM. Thursday. An accident to a motor-car occurred to-day at the Spring Creek railway j crossing. The Rev. W. Fordyce. a Methodist minister at Taumarina, and Mrs. Fordyce were on the crossing | when the car. which was being driven by Mr. Fordyce, was struck by a train j and hurled 10 yards. The occupants were thrown out, but neither was seriously injured. Mr. Fordyce was bruised all over his body, ja ad Airs. Fordyce is suffering from shock. The car was considerablv damaged.
