GRAFTON BRIDGE AND SYMONDS STREET A.A.A. URGES ACTION Before he was returned last the Mayor promised that somethS,*’ would be done about relieving the ert gestion in Symonds Street, and ml putting in hand of the Belgium extension. So far very little seem' to have been done about either ” ’ This was a comment at a meetmot the AA.A. last evening. ns Mr. F. G Farrell remarked that it was high time there was some alternative route to Grafton Bridge amt Symonds Street. Mr. A. Grayson, chairman, said the council hud decided to do some widening of the road in Symonds Street near the bridge, but it was held up by lack of funds. Grafton Bridge provided a subject on which none of the council members had any new ideas. Objection to the Belgium Street extension was raised by a member, who said the hill was far too steep on both sides of Karangahape Bond. Twentyears might be held up on the hill, holding on their brakes, and half of the cars would stall on restarting. Mr. F. G. Farrell: I would avoid it, or have very big bumpers back and front. , The association deemed to write to the City Council urging the speedingup of the suggested work.
