Taverner, Minister in charge of the Publicity Department, promised that the South Island would get more at- „ tention. He said it was the Government’s intention to consider the re-establish-meat of the Bluft’-Melbourne service. Which would enable tourists to start in the North and continue through the South Island, returning direct (o Australia, or tourists could stai't in the South- and leave from Auckland. The Minister said there was an increasing number of visitors from overseas, and it was imperative that as many as possible should visit the South Island. He did not wish to bring up any question of inter-island rivalry. It was simply a question of the common good of the whole Dominion.
