OBLIGING MAGISTRATE
CARPENTER WANTED P.W.D. JOB given other government WORK George Arnold complained at the Police Court this morning that he had not "had a fair go” and was looking for work with the Public Works Department. As suggested by Chief-Detective Hammond, the obliging magistrate found Arnold Government work for two months. Arnold, a carpenter, aged 43. pleaded guilty last Thursday to being idle and disorderly, having insufficient lawful means of support and was remanded for a week to be cleaned up at the gaol. "He dees no work and sleeps out,” commented the Chief-Detective. Arnold: I have not had a fair go. I am waiting for a job with the Public Works. Mr. Hammond: I think he will be working for the P.D.W., anyway, working for the P.W.D.. anyway, bably, but not the way he expected. A term of two months’ ment was imposed.
