CLAIMED BARONETCY, THEN DISAPPEARED
MYSTERY SURROUNDS PRESENT WHEREABOUTS OF CANBERRA MAN (Australian and 27. Z. Press Association) Reed. 12.30 p.m. LONDON, Friday. Alexander Kenneth Murray, from Canberra, arrived at London in June to establish his claim to a baronetcy and extensive estates. He communicated with Australia House, which had a conference with the Scottish authorities. Finality was not reached. It is ascertained that Mr. Murray was perturbed, and complained of “passive resistance to my claims.” In the course of a letter to a friend he complained that it was terrible. He had expended money to establish the claim, and did not know what to do. The last record of him is a letter dated September 29 from an Edinburgh suburb to the son of a fruitgrower near Sydney, in which he said he was being taken to Tndia. Australia House was asked to trace him, and communicated with the police and the Scottish authorities, without result. It is sending copies of all relevant correspondence to the Dominion Office. Many letters addressed to Sir Alexander Murray are awaiting him at Australia House. Prior to his disappearance he visited Sir Granville Ryrie and presented him with panoramic views of Canberra and the visiting card of “A. K. Murray, editor and proprietor, ‘Federal Capital Pioneer/ Canberra.”
