“WANTS A CLEAN-UP”

CARPENTER TO SPEND WEEK IN GAOL In the opinion of Chief-Detec-tive Hammond, George Arnold wants a clean-up, so he will spend the next seven days in gaol. Arnold, a carpenter, aged 45, was charged at the Police Court this morning with being idle and disorderly, having insufficient lawftfl means of support. I suppose I am guilty, but it’s not altogether my fault, as I am unable to find any work,” said Arnold in answer to the charge. “A week in gaol would do him no harm,” said Mr. Hammond. "He has been sleeping out and is badly in need of a clean up. When he comes out we will see what we can do for him.” A week’s remand was granted.
