QUEER COLLECTIONS
Collecting as a hobby takes various and often queer forms. For example. Tack Hobbs, the famous cricketer, specialises in acquiring teaspoons bearing the coats-of-arms of the various towns he has visited in the course of his world travels. At least two well-known writers possess treasured collections of book "iackets.” Laddie Cliff’s hobby consists in accumulating hundreds ot quaint mottoes. Major Pat A Beckett owns between: two and three thousand mauhhos covers, to the collection of which he has devoted many years. The Ute Rev. Gerald Davies, formerly Mastei of the Charterhouse, collected _ Mr nS Win b ston dS Churchill and Lord „ M /cvV Possess valuable collections K f° walking-sticks, though neither col°f , k i ne ariv so valuable as King George’s? which’was acquired by King Edward.
