FIRE IN GASWORKS

EMPLOYEE SLIGHTLY BURNED About nine o’clock on Saturday evening a pot of tar in the works of the Auckland Gas Company in Beaumont Street caught fire -and an employee, Mr. W. Starr, aged 63. of Riddell Street, St. Heliers, received burns on his hand and face. Ho was taken to hospital by the St. John Ambulance, but his condition is not serious. The fire was put out by the City Fire Brigade, the only damage being to a few barrels of tar.
