CHINESE FINED £2O

MAN WITH NO MONEY STAYED TOO LONG IN N.Z. Wong Chong, who stayed in New Zealand 11 months longer than the terms of his temporary immigration permit allowed, was fined £2O at the Police Court this morning. Wong, a gardener aged 24, pleaded guilty and the Collector of Customs, Mr. J. A. Mclntosh, said that his permit had expired in February of last year. The collector understood that Wong had had no money to go away. His relatives, however, were prepared to find the money for his passage. “Wong has no money* now,” he said. Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M.: These fellows never do have when they come up here. Default of the fine was fixed at one month and a deportation order was made.
