NEWSPAPERS PROTEST
STATE FUNDS FOR WEEKLY (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) LONDON, Friday. Some of the newspapers, including the “Daily Telegraph” and the “Daily Express,” are protesting, on the ground of unfair competition, against the proposal of the British Broadcasting Corporation to use State funds to launch shortly a literary weekly, to cost 2d. It will be followed by a series of educational books. The newspapers say this is virtually building up a publishing business.
