TAURANGA TOPICS
Tauranga has been greatly taxed to accommodate the large number of tourists who have visited the town these holidays. * The camping grounds have been crowded out and numerous tents are pitched in every available site in town and at the Mount. It has been a record year for visitors to the Mount. With the exception of a couple of days the weather has been ideal and so far as one can learn visitors have been delighted with their outing. During the holidays the bowling and tennis clubs have held tournaments and matches. Teams of bowlers from both clubs competed at Te Aroha and Rotorua. Numerous fishing parties have been enjoying the sport, and those who went to Mayor Island report that fish are plentiful and the sport excellent. Several mako sharks were caught and swordfish were sighted. A number of sportsmen from a distance have booked up for later in the month. Local fishermen have been making large hauls of liapuku and schnapper.
Business has been exceedingly good this Christmas, all the tradesmen report having had a record season.
