MOTOR-CYCLE TRAGEDY
WELL-KNOWN RIDER KILLED SKID ON TRAM-LINES A skid, followed by a collision with a light motor-truck, was the cause of the death of Hector Noel Millar, aged 28, the manager of British Cycles. Limited, who was killed while riding his motorcycle down Anzac Avenue yesterday afternoon. Mr. Millar was riding down tlie Avenue at a fairly slow speed, when he swerved to avoid a motor-truck driven by L. G. All port, which was turning in front of the Pukemiro Chambers. The machine skidded on the tram-lines and hit the back of the truck, Mr. Millar being thrown on to the road. He received such severe injuries that he died in the St. John Ambulance on the way to the Auckland Hospital. Mr. Millar lived with his mother at 11 Carlton Gore Road. He was a well-known member of jhe Sports Motor-Cycle Club and was known to be an expert rider, having taken part in many reliability trials and hillclimbing events. His motor-cycle was badly smashed up, but the truck was hardly damaged.
