LYRIC PLASTERED IN PARIS” ‘Plastered in Paris, which was shown at the Lyric Theatre last evening, is a really funny comedy that embraces the Foreign Legion, adventures of Americans in Paris, and sheiks and harems in one big laugh. The fun-film serves as the firt vehicle in which Sammy Cohen is featured, and Jack Perinick is his partner in a series of the funniest situations ever screened. Among them are the adventures of the comedians in a buried Roman city, during which they enveigle a detachment of Riff bandits into the ruins and knock them senseless, and capture them one by one as they hurtle into a Roman bath through the enormous mouth of a mastodonic idol. The picture revolves around the journey of two delegates to the American Legion Paris convention during which they are mistaken for French Foreign Legion “rookies,” are are inducted into the service and a subsequent campaign against Riff brigands. The French general’s daughter and her little soubrette friend are captured by the Riffs and the comics craftily ease their way into the desert chieftain’s stronghold and not only rescue their fair friends but liberate the sheik’s entire harem.
