STRAND
LAST DAYS OF HAROLD LLOYD “Speedy,” Harold Lloyd’s latest production, is one. of the finest examples of refreshing comedy that the Strand Theatre ha - ever shown. Employing as he does a deft touch of humour in even the most unlikely ot situations and at times a strong romantic vein, Lloyd has come to be acknowledged as the cleverest comedian on the screen to-day. Those who see him as Speedy, the irresponsible youth whose obsession for baseball continually brings him into disfavour with his employers, are assured of an entertainment which he alone knows how to provide. Speedy loses his position through becoming engrossed in a baseball match and forgetting to post an important letter. He resolves to turn over a new leaf, and the opportunity arrives when he accidentally learns of a scheme to defraud his former employer. His experiences with the old horsetrams amid the bustling activity of New Y'ork are distinctly hilarious and provide enough thrills for everyone in the audience. The remainder of the programme is of the usual high standard set by the Strand, and the whole entertainment is excellently accompanied by the Strand Symphony Orchestra under Eve Bent-
BAND AT ELLERSLIE By the kind permission of the Auckland Racing Club, the Papatoetoe Town Band, under the conductorship of Mr. G. de Clifton, will play at the Ellerslie racecourse to-morrow.
