GIRL CITIZENS

Y.W.C.A. CONFERENCE The Girl Citizen Conference of the Y.W.C.A. at Marton has had a busy period during the New Year. On New Year’s Eve a concert was held, followed by a ceremonial fire-dame to usher in the New Year. On Tuesday Bible study was nelcl. A sports meeting had been planned, bur rain fell so that it had to be put off. Part of the meeting, however, was held in the gymnasium, and Wellington and Christchurch tied for first place, with Auckland third. Tea on New Year’s Day was a “World Fellowship” meal, at which the girls appeared in the costumes of different countries of the world. In the evening Mr. Douglas Tayler lectured on the contributions that the various countries had made toward the science of music, and the girls of the Auckland community danced a Czechoslovakian folk-dance.
