Woitaki Girl was slow away at the start and Moneyspider broke up after going half a furlong and Acre also went to a break. Plur.o began smartly, and passing the stand the first time was showing the way to Pageant, Zenith, Mate o’ Mine and Harold Thorpe. Zenith headed Pluto before the stands were reached the last time, and led into the back stretch from Pluto, Pageant, Harold Thorpe and Vesuvius (who broke badly). Pageant and Harold Thorpe had taken charge by the time the tanks were reached and Bonny Logan also commenced a run. Pageant led into the straight from Harold Thorpe and keeping up the run, beat Bonny Logan home by eight lengths, Harold Thorpe four lengths away third, followed by Waitaki Girl, Billy Sea, Pluto, Moneyspider and Zenith. Times, 4.57 4-5, 4.56 2-5, 6.0 1-5. (Later results will be found In the stop Press column as they come to hand.) 1
