SWORN FOR PROBATE AT UNDER £250,000 PUBLIC BEQUESTS For the purpose of probate the estate of the late Mi-. Andrew- Clarke Caughey, of the firm of Smith and Caughey, Ltd., has been sworn as being under the value of £250,000. The trustees and executors arh his sons. Messrs. J. M. and A. L. Caughey, and the great bulk of the estate is assigned to members of the family. In connection with its disposal the following clause appears in the will: “Having regard to my responsibility I have endeavoured during life to do my duty in reference to the claims of benevolent, patriotic and other worthy objects, and had pleasure in doing so. I desire my children to have the opportunity of experiencing like pleasure, therefore I am passing on to them the major portion of my estate in confidence. and believing that each and all of them will ever regard themselves

as stewards of what they inherit or possess.” Public benefactions of £ 500 each are made to the Methodist Church at Portaferry, County Down, Ireland, to the Young Men’s Christian Association and to the Young Women’s Christian of Auckland, and to the Methodist Orphanage, of Auckland.
