TOO MUCH CELEBRATION

INTOXICATED MOTORIST FINED BLAMED THE FESTIVE SEASON (Special to THE SUN) ROTORUA, Friday. A plea of guilty to driving a car while, intoxicated was made by Hy. Touhou Farrell in the Police Court today, before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M. Sergeant Hogan said defendant was driving the car along the Te Ngae Road last night with four Maoris. The speaker received a message that there had been an accident, and he sent two constables to the scene. They found no one was hurt. The car had struck the post of the bridge, and' narrowly missed falling into the Purenga Stream down a steep bank. Mr. Carter said th© accused’s-condi-tion was due to the festive season, and suggested leniency. The magistrate said there was too much dangerous driving in Rotorua. It must be stopped. He inflicted a fine of £2O, in default one month’s imprisonment. Accused’s licence would bo cancelled, and he would be prohibited from obtaining another for two years.
