MAIN NORTH ROAD OVER £5,000 OWING Accounts amounting to over £ 5.200 are still outstanding in connection with the construction of the concrete northern highway. Of this sum, Henderson owes the City Council £4,292 15s lid, plus interest now amounting to £591 15s 2d, and the Waitemata County owes £I,OOB 10s 2d, and £llO 3s 6d for interest. a The city treasurer informed the City Council last evening that he had made numerous applications for payment without result. The town clerk stated that the work was completed in December, 1926. and the council’s contribution was £16,362 0s 7d.
“I move that immediate payment be demanded or action be taken,” said the Mayor. “They are paying G per cent., and the bank is charging us per cent.” The motion "was carried.
