“The Man I Regard as New Zealand's Most Distinguished Living Son ”
This competition brought essays from many parts of New Zealand, setting forth the claims to fame of a number of distinguished Hew Zealanders. In addition to the three articles published on this page there were others written round the Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Ward, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, Major-General Sir George Richardson, Sir Thomas Parkinson and Ratana. The greater number of contributors favoured Sir Ernest Rutherford, with Sir Truby King a close second. FIRST PRIZE
