THAT £2,000 SUBSIDY
PRIME MINISTER CAN MAKE NO CHANGE “ARMY” WILL FEED HUNGRY Early this afternoon Mx*. M. J. Savage, M.P., received a reply* from the Prime Minister in connection with his appeal that the Government grant of £2,000 for unemployed relief should be made unconditional. The reply was to the effect that the Prime Minister was unwilling to grant the £2,000 unconditionally. This reply was received with the utmost disappointment when conveyed to the men through Adjutant Goffin, of the Salvation Army*. Mx*. Coffin gave his personal assurance to Mr. Savage that no one would go hungry through the holiday's. The Salvation Army expects to provide between 300 and 400 free meals at the Congress Hall in Grey Avenue. Mr. Savage has offered the Army* a donation of £lO towards the payment for Christmas meals to be supplied at the Congress Hall.
