ALL READY TO START
MESSAGE FROM WILKINS WEATHER AGAINST HIM (Australian and N.2. Prcs3 Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. LONDON, Tuesday. A copyright message from Sir Hubert Wilkins at Deception Island, dated December 18 says: “Our seaplane is fully loaded and is lying at anchor ready to start at a moment’s notice on the hoped-for adventure. “A watch has been kept from the hill at the harbour mouth, but drifting ice entering the bay ruined any chance of taking oft'. "However, we made a short flight in the plane San Francisco, which is now fitted with wheels, in the course of which we climbed 6,000 ft. For 100 miles, as far as the eye could see, the clouds were unbroken. It is useless to proceed under present conditions. The indications are for an improvement.’’
