INDUSTRY IN BAD WAY
NO SHORTENING OF HOURS Reed. 9.45 a.m. MELBOURNE, To-day. The Full Commonwealth Arbitration Court granted an application by the employers that the standard hours to be worked in the timber industry be 48 a week. The union had sought 44 hours a week. Chief Judge Dethridge said the industry was in such a bad way that it would be unable to stand the further burden of shortening hours.
