Mr. T. Julian returned to Auckland this morning by the Limited from Wellington. Mr. E. C. Turner was a passenger from Wellington this morning on the jjaiited. The Rev. C. G. Scrimgeour, of the Methodist Central Mission, is visiting Wbangarei. Mr. A E. Hefford, chief inspector of fisheries, is visiting Auckland. lie is staying at the Star Hotel. Colonel R. Tracy Inglis, who has been visiting Wellington, returned to Auckland to-day by the Limited. Mr. W. Downie Stewart, M.P., is visiting Rotorua. lie arrived there yesterday and will stay until February. Mr. G. C. Munns, M.P., for Roskill, ’aill leave by the Limited this evening lor the South. Ho will be away for ;tbout a month. Professor W. Riddet, of the Massey Agricultural College, Palmerston North, arrived in Auckland this morning by tiie Limited. Sir Thomas demerits, head of Andrew Clements and Co., Tooley Street, London, will arrive in New Zeai ml on January 3 or 3 from Australia. The Right Hon. J. Cl. Coates and Mrs. Coates will arrive in Auckland tomorrow from Wellington. They will leave later in the day for Kaipara. Mr. Lang ton Cavers, London man* ,-iger of the Ocean, Accident and Guarnteo Corporation, Limited, arrived by ilie Niagara on Monday. He is visiting New Zealand on business. Mr. A. W. B. Powell, an experienced Auckland student of conchology and palaeontology, has been appointed as a member of the professional staff of th© Auckland Museum. The Revs. P. Cleary and A. Neild have been granted licences to officiate temporarily in the Waikato diocese. .Mr. Neild, who is chaplain of Te Aute College, Hawke’s Bay, is examining « haplain to Bishop Cherrington. Dr. R. Mitchell Mackay, chief medial referee under the Workers’ Compensation Act to the Government of New South Wales, arrived in Wellington yesterday on a holiday visit to New Zealand. Professor John Schmidt, of Copenhagen, who is in charge of the Banish Government Research Expedition at present in New Zealand waters, is .staying at the Grand Hotel. He will join the research ship Dana when it arrives in Auckland this afternoon. The Right Rev. Leonard S. Kerapthorne. Bishop in Polynesia, arrived in Wellington yesterday by th« Makura. He will remain in New Zealand for a month, and will spend a fortnight at Nelson on a visit to his parents, Archdeacon and Mrs. Kemptliorne, who re- - ently celebrated their golden wedding.
