UP THE STAIRS

NO LIFT AT INFIRMARY Absence of lifts in the infirmary was brought to the notice of the Auckland Hospital Board yesterday by a letter from Mr. Alex. E. Eagleton. Mr. J. Row commended the idea of putting in a lift. The chairman, Mr. W. Wallace, said that another storey would have to be added to the infirmary or it would have to be extended in some way. Dr. Maguire had reported that there were 20 cases in the hospital which should be in the infirmary. He agreed that a lift would be wanted if another storey were put on. “I walk up the stairs now,” said Mr. Wallace, “and surely the young people ought to be able to do so.” 1 Mr. J. D. Chalmers: The lift is a : good idea. At present, I’m barred from ! irking up the stairs to see people, i The letter was received.
