KEEN SWIMMING RACES

WAITEMATA CLUB OPENS SEASON ENA STOCKLEY COMPETES Good times and keen racing were the features of the Waitemata Swimming Club’s first-of-season carnival at the Tepid Baths last evening. The attendance was disappointing, but from the point of view of competition the carnival was a success. Jack Enwright showed a flash <sf form in his win in the'22o yards handicap. The six competitors in the race were all prominent swimmers. Miss M. Smith, with a 3sec handicap, captured her heat and the final in the 50yds women’s race. Miss Doris Magee, off scratch, was second. Miss Era Stockley, Olympic representative, returned to local competition when she started off scratch in a heat, and came third after a good showing. She has yet to reach her real form. The 50yds inter-club race went to a handicap man, D. McKay, of Parnell, and a newcomer, W. S. Obsahr, won the novice event. A large number of minor events filled an interesting programme.
