GIFT OF PORTRAIT

A portrait of the late Mr. James thrown, for fiver years headmaster of the Auckland Grammar School, was presented to the school at the prizegiving ceremony last evening. The gift was made by the old boys and was handed to the present headmaster, Mr. H. J. D. Mahon, by Mr. A* St. c. Brown. "We ask that his portrait should be >.’.ng in the school as a lasting memor'd of one who was a living example to his fellow men in his life and work,” *aid Mr. Brown. In reply, Mr. Mahon spoke in terms '•t affection of his late friend and fellow bupil, and said what a great honour ’ was for him to accept the portrait behalf of the school.
