MORE SYDNEY FRUIT TOMATO SALES IMPROVE By the Marama to-day another large shipment of Sydney fruit, including cherries, oranges, apricots, and passions, arrived for the Christmas market. Sydney cherries will be sold to-day and to-morrow. Hothouse tomatoes have improved in value. Very large quantities of strawberries have been marketed this week. Prices have been low, but an increase was recorded to-day. First-of-season peaches were offered to-day. Supplies of plums are increasing. Gooseberries have fluctuated considerably in value. Local apples are still dull G f sale. There is no demand for pears. A small quantity of Fiji pines and bananas has arrived. The vegetable market is heavily supplied with potatoes, cabbages, green peas, beans, and lettuces. The demand is keen. The only notable change in the poultry market has been an increase in value for ducks, which are now bringing Is 3d to Is 6d. So far the quality of turkeys has been poor. Hens are bringing 6s to Ss. gobblers 9s to 14s 6d, and choice gobblers 16s to 245. Quotations: —• FRUIT Appples..
