SPORTSMAN CUP CONTEST Contests for the Sportsman Cup were decided at the Domain last evening by members of the Auckland Amateur Athletic: and Cycle Club. A. J. Elliott, in gaining a first in the 100 yards and a second in the furlong, clinched the trophy. Results: 100Yds Handicap—A. J. Elliott, scr, 1; 1.. IT. Meredith, 3*yds, 2; V. R. Walker, Siyds, 3. Six started. Elliott finished brilliantly and beat Meredith by a foot, with Walker inches away third. Time, 10 l-ssec. 220Yds Handicap—V. R. Walker, Byds, 1: A. J. Elliott, scr, 2; L. IT. Meredith, 4yds, 3. Four started. Walker finished strongly and won a great race by a foot, with Meredith a similar distance away third. Time, 22 3-ssec. 440Yds Handicap—G. McLeod, 18yds, 1; T. E. Henry, scr, 2; J. A. Crum, 22yds, 3. Six started. Time, 51sec. 880Yds Handicap—J. A. Crum, 26yds, 1; L. C. Barker, Syds, and B. L. Evans, 50yds, dead heat, 2. The only starters. Won by 2ft. Time, 2min 2^sec. One Mile Handicap—J. W. Savidan, scr, 1: A. Clarke. 250yds, 2; A. B. Browne, 95yds, 3. Five started. Time, 4min 26 3-ssec. CYCLING EVENTS The Manukau Amateur Cycle Club also held two cycle events in conjunction with the meeting. The results were as follow; One Mile Handicap, Grade B— G. Wliitehouse, 50yds, 1; E. A. Cleaver, 30yds, 2; G. P. Clark, 90yds, 3. Eight started. Won by two lengths. Time, Half-mile Cycle Handicap, Grade A— G. H. Wade, scr, 1; F. J. Casey, 20yds, 2; S. Baird, 40yds, 3. Five started. Won easily by two lengths. Time, lmin 9sec.
