PROSPERITY AHEAD

POWER BOARD’S VIEW WAITEMATA BOARD MEETS “1 am sure this will be a happy and prosperous New Year for everyone, because the country seems more prosperous than lias been the case for many years,” said Mr. J, W. Hayden, chairman of the Waitemata Electric-Power Board, in wishing board members the compliments of the season at this morning’s meeting. On behalf of members of the board, Mr. Greenslado wished the chairman and his wife the seasonal compliments. The question of collection of the board’s accounts through the agency of the town clerks of the various town boards and borough councils, instead of through the Bank of New Zealand came up for consideration. It was decided to defer the matter until next meeting, when the various local bodies would be given the opportunity to fall into line with Birkenhead, which had promised to collect officially. The resident engineer, Mr. F. J. H. Wilson, reported that tests on the 11,000-volt underground cable to the air base at Hobsonville had been completed, the cable had been put into service, and the transformer at the base livened.

Sufficient guarantee had been received to go on with the Kamohi Valley extension, near Kaukapakapa.

For the month of November, 111 connections had been made, including 21 stoves, 21 water-heaters, and 17 motors.
