THE “SHOUTING” DIES
NIGHT CLUB KINGS DEPART SCAMPER FROM LONDON (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. noon. LONDON, Sunday. The war on night clubs by Viscount Byng, Chief of Scotland Yard,, together with the revelations in the Goddard and Meyriek cases, has resulted in a wholesale scamper of foreign night-club kings to the Continent. Six prominent ones, well known to Australian visitors, departed in a few days and only one club was selling liquor after hours in London on Saturday. Girl dancing partners have been told they need not attend, as there are no customers. The police estimate that the clubs will be killed* beyond resurrection by the New Year.
