DAY OF ACCIDENTS
FIVE PEOPLE IN HOSPITAL Five people are in hospital as the result of accidents which oc- i curred in the city and North Shore between two and eight o'clock yesterday. Shortly after - p.m.. -while cycling down Remuera Road. Alfred Turnbull, aged 19, of 3S Gordon Road. Morningside, swerved to avoid a motor-car and ran into a stationary motor- lorry at the roadside. lie was attended by Dr. A. M. Grant, and then taken to hospital suffering from an injured j shoulder. Stepping off the safety-zone in New - • market about six o'clock in the even- j ing, \V. Allison, aged 61. of 17 Eden Street, Newmarket, was knocked down by an oncoming tram. He received slight head injuries and was taken to hospital by the St. John Ambulance. His condition this morning is reported to be satisfactory. Mrs. Ada Truscott, aged 59. of 90 Jervois Road, Ponsonby, was knocked down by a cyclist in Ponsonby Road about six o'clock last evening. She was taken to hospital suffering from head injuries, but her condition this morning is satisfactory. A fractured leg was suffered by Ernest John Mead, aged 6S. of Second Avenue, Kingsland. when he was knocked down by a motor-car in Eden Terrace about seven o'clock last even- j ing. He was admitted to hospital, | but his condition is not serious. About eight o’clock Mrs. Edith Rob- j inson, aged 48, of 6A North Avenue, i Devonport. was admitted to hospital with her right leg fractured. The accident occurred when the heel-plate of her shoe caught in the stair carpet as she was coming down stairs. Her condition this morning is satisfactory.
