HUNTLY TOWN BOARD
At the meeting of the Huntly Town Board it was announced that the new town clerk, Mr. W. C. Hay Chapman, will take up duty to-morrow. Mr. T. W. llefford’s tender for piping in the reserve was accepted. Permission was granted to the picture theatres for suitable programmes to be screened on Christmas evening. A complaint from Mr. F. Knupper regarding the taxi stand outside his premises being detrimental to his business found all members sympathetic, and the chairman, Mr. E. George, and Cr. Bailey were authorised to confer with the taxi drivers and to remedy the trouble. Messrs. Thomas Hinton, chairman, S. Saulbrey, J. R. Ellis and H. J. Beeche, of the Central Power Board, waited on the board relative to representation on the Central Electric-Power Board. Owing to the short notice no decision was arrived at by the local body, but it was considered ‘that Huntly should be represented. A definite decision will be given in the course of a few days.
