PAYING LIGHT BILLS

CONSIDERING CONSUMERS DEPOTS IN THE SUBURBS The question of establishing more depots in various parts of the city and suburbs in order to save consumers travelling to town to pay their accounts, will receive full consideration in the near future. This assurance was given by Air. W. J. Holdsworth. chairman of the Auckland Power Board, at yesterday’s meeting, when a letter was read from the new Eden Chamber of Commerce, urging that the suggestion be considered. The Auckland Savings Bank had established depots fn various parts of the city, and it would be a good scheme if the Power Board could do the same. The general manger, Air. R. H. Bartley, said it had not proved worth while to keep part-time officers for the collection of accounts at Kohimaramara or St. Heliers, although an office was required at Papatoetoe. Air. E. H. Potter said it had to be remembered there was a population of about 30,000 between Mount Albert and Mount Eden, and some arrangement should be made to provide for the convenience of consumers In that area.
