CORNWELL CUP TRIALS
AUCKLAND CREW SELECTED A further series of trial runs for the selection of the crew to represent Auckland in the Cornwell Cup contest, to be held at Lyttelton on January 19, was conducted last evening by the Takapuna Boating Club. The first trial was won by Suzette, with Rodger Bros, as crew, with Trevic (Carter and Burt) second, followed by Lelphine, Ripple and Kittj r , one minute separating the five boats. The second trial with a change of boats was then held, and w v as won by Kitty, with Carter and Burt as crew, with Ripple (Field and Edwards) second, followed at close intervals by Trevic, Lelphine, Suzette and Tio. The selectors, Messrs. Brinsden, Rambaud and Skerret met immediately after this race and selected the representatives as follow:—D. Rodgers, skipper, and Cl. Carter, for’ard hand, with R. Rodgers emergency. The commodore, Mr. J. J. Mac Kay, in announcing the selection, stated the boys chosen would make a good crew, and would uphold the reputation of the Waitemata. This was enthusiastically received by over 60 spectators.
