BANKRUPT GOES AWAY
(From YrstrrdrHv’s Late Edition!
WIFE FACES ASSIGNEE PREVIOUS FARMING FAILURE (From Our Oi:n Correspondent) HAMILTON. Monday. In the absence of the bankrupt, William Donald, blacksmith and coachbuilder, Matamata, his wife was examined by the-official assignee to-day. No creditors were present, and no statement was filed. Mrs. Donald stated that last August her husband left Matamata with tho intention of going to Arapuni. After several weeks elapsed and no word of him being received, she made inquiries and had reason to believe he was in Australia. She did not think he took any property, lie had previously worked at Rotorua, and became bankrupt before while farming at Taranaki. She thought ho had received his discharge. The assignee agreed to make inquiries regarding the Taranaki properties, which appeared to be mortgaged for more than their value. Mrs. Donald could give little information of the Matamata business, the assets of which were covered by bills of sale. The meeting was adjourned for further investigations.
