Crowd Fills Court to See Suspects
WESTFIELD HOLD-UP REMAND TILL MONDAY Two Australians, considered by ' the police to be connected with the hold-up at Westfield on the morning of November 27, were charged at the Police Court this morning. “There are more serious charges to be made against these men?” said Chief-Detective Hammond, “One of discharging a firearm.” David Mackenzie Stewart, alias Stoner, aged 28, and Roy Patrick Kitching, alias Newman, aged 26, both Australians. were jointly charged with obtaining £a from George Roland Walsh on November 27 by means of a valueless cheque and with robbing Samuel Henderson on November 26, being armed with offensive weapons—an automatic pistol and a Colt revolver. Mr. H. L. M. Buisson appeared for both accused. On the application of. Chief-Detec-tive Hammond, a remand was granted until Monday. Stewart is a well-built man of medium height. He wears spectacles and was this morning clad in a dark suit. Kitching, in a light suit, looked very young, having a fresh complexion and an alert expression. The back of the Court was crowded, that part of the room allotted to the public being filled a few seconds after the Court orderly had opened the door.
