HOSPITAL FUNDS
FETE AND OPEN-AIR CONCERT In aid of the 'Mater Misericordi&e Hospital building fund, a. garden fete was held at the home of Mr. T. Buxton, Owens Road, Epsom, on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Buxton, in a frock of grey georgette, welcomed the guests on the lawn. Among those present were: Miss Connelly, Mrs. J. J. Sullivan, Miss Mulvanney, Miss Taylor, Mrs. Cronin, Miss Stone, Mrs. Kell, Mrs. Restall, Mrs. Ryan. Mrs. Frost, Mrs. Conlin, Miss Gallagher, Mrs. Darby, Mrs. F. Beehan, Mrs. Stewart, Mrs. E. O’Connell, Mrs. Neil. The stallholders were: Mrs. S. Garland, Miss Cremen, fancy stall; Mrs. Beehan, Christmas tree; Mrs. .Kelly, Mrs. C. Grevatt, Miss Flynn, Miss Somerville, sweets; Mrs. J. J. O’Brien. Mrs. Fouliey, Mrs. J. F. Wright, Mrs. O’Reilly, Miss Malory, Miss Fogarty, Miss Fouliey, Miss White, produce; Mrs. O. O’Neill, Mrs. Bain. Mrs. W. Id. Hazard, Miss Browne, Mrs. Sutcliffe. Mrs. A. Fouliey, Mrs. Nerheny, Miss Clemens, cakes; Mrs. C. Rosser, Mrs O’Connor, Mrs. Frood, ice cream and drink stall; Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. Little. Mrs. Stansfield, tea room. In the evening a concert, organised by Mr. Stuart Garland, was given on an open-air stage. Songs were given • v Miss M. Burns. Mr. J. Lonergan. Mr. S. Hamlin, and Mr. JO. Churchhouse; recitations by Miss P. -Torpy and Miss Drysdalc; jazz selections. Messrs. Gallagher, Gilliand, and Judge; modern and Old World dances, Miss Daphne Knight’s pupils; song and poi dance by a sextette of Maori girls; humour, Mr. Dan Flood and Mr. G. Story. A mimic boxing contest was given by Masters Hume and Garland.
